Team up to set up the evening BEFORE the 9/11 Day project packing 455,000 meals for Bostonians in need
WHEN

WHAT
Put up signs, prepare and move meal pack food ingredients (oats, sugar, cinnamon, and nutritional supplements) equipment and other supplies, set up 56+ assembly line tables and water dispensers/cups, and create/prepare hospitality and registration areas.
All registered setup volunteers will receive 9/11 Day t-shirts.
Setup will take place "rain or shine" since the TRACK is indoors and air conditioned.
Optional: After set up is completed at 9pm, toast the 9/11 victims, survivors, first responders, and members of our military who bravely rose in service in response to the attacks 25 years ago, before the Broken Records beer hall closes at 10pm. Broken Records validates parking at 40, 71, and 80 Guest Street so that it only costs $5/vehicle.

WHY
We need to set up the supplies, assembly lines, and hospitality and registration areas so that 1,200 volunteers can efficiently pack 455,000 meals the next day, on 9/11.
HOW
PMD canNOT accept any UNregistered, walk-in volunteers.

After you register successfully, you will see a confirmation screen and receive a confirmation email message, so be sure to save the date and times on your calendars AND add [email protected] to your address/white/allow list.
Then a few days before this project PMD will email specific details in a PDF, including directions to the project site by public transit and by car, what to wear/expect, checklist, map, and 9/11day.org release form.
WHO
9/11 Day is the nonprofit organization that created and annually organizes the federally recognized September 11 National Day of Service & Remembrance. In 50 cities across the nation, 9/11 Day is organizing large-scale volunteer service projects called Meal Packs, that will mobilize 50,000 volunteers who will together assemble 20 million nutritious meals for Americans at risk of hunger.This project requires being in excellent health (and living with others who are also), fitness like being able to lift 35 pounds unaided, and being "fragrance free," meaning that participants must not wear perfume or cologne, or scented skin, hair, facial, or clothing/laundry products.
Volunteers must be age 18 or older.
For 33+ years, public charity People Making a Difference (PMD) has promoted informed and responsible volunteerism by involving people in tangible work that meets local needs and by assisting companies in building successful community involvement programs that:
- Produce appreciable results while conserving recipients' limited resources.
- Educate volunteers about broader issues.
- Bring people together to make a difference.
